Where Sweet Dreams Begins
Our Patterns

WE ARE ONE.
This painting represents future dreaming of what true reconciliation would look like for me. Of healing, deep listening, learning and the forging of our people for a more beautiful and inclusive future. The different colours represent Australia’s diversity of cultures, while the circle patterns represent sacred gathering sites where we come together to share our stories and celebrate our unique Australian heritage. The U shapes are our diverse people who have created a historic cultural environment throughout Australia that is lively, spiritual, innovative, hopeful, and outward looking. In the middle is our Mother Earth. She does not discriminate; she does not care about the colour of our skin or where we come from. She is one... and together WE are one.

WOMEN.
This piece represents women, women in power, women in birth, women in motherhood, women in life and builds on the strength of women with the village we create around us. Our ancestors would sit in a circle yarning whilst weaving, painting, preparing food-ultimately creating together. Women’s business is a way for women to reconnect through story, art, mindfulness, movement, dance and meditation. Connecting with our cultural roots and understanding that we are all equal. Yarning in a conversation that flows in a positive direction, adding to another’s ideas, interjecting but never interrupting, and always listening and learning. Being a woman is important to the generation of life, the Earth, the land, relationships and all things of importance in this world. In Aboriginal culture women play significant and sacred roles in taking care of land, country, children, lore, ceremony and life - they teach all the children how to be, how to love, how to care for country, for lore, for spirit and for life. Passing this knowledge down to our children and allowing our children to learn from others, and to raise our children with strength, love, contentment and resilience through close community ties.

LANDSCAPES
Searing hot desert dunes, towering tall forests and raging river schemes. These wild places help shape our unique identity as Australians living on a vast and wild country with a diverse range of incredibly beautiful plant and animal life. This artwork shows the ever changing Australian landscape. The tracks left behind by animals scattering over the outback plains, human footprints on a low tide, bushlands burned to ash in wild fires and Australia’s ever changing climates that affect nature and significantly shapes our natural environment.
